Support Staff

Hello! I am the Building Literacy Coach (BLC) at Burns Park Elementary. In this role, I support teachers, families and students in various aspects of literacy learning. As a reading intervention teacher, my goal is to improve students’ reading, writing and spelling skills using research-based literacy practices. During my 20+ years in education, I taught first through third grades before transitioning to this position.

I grew up in St. Louis, Missouri but have lived in Michigan since college. My hobbies include reading, playing soccer, and gardening. I love animals, especially dogs. My husband and I have two college-aged sons who attended AAPS and graduated from Pioneer High School. I’m proud to be a part of this diverse and vibrant district, and am excited to be a Burns Park Penguin!

Greetings! I am very happy to be here and support all of the amazing multilingual students and families at Burns Park. I began teaching in 2010 as a third grade teacher, and have been an English Language teacher since 2016.

I have a Masters degree in Elementary Education from the University of Michigan with a focus in language acquisition and teaching English Language Learners. Go Blue! I have a special interest in cultural and linguistic awareness, competency, and sustaining practices in schools.

My husband, two daughters, and I live in Dexter, MI. In my free time, I enjoy traveling, being outdoors, camping, creating and enjoying art, reading, video games, and spending time with family.
