Kindergarten

My name is Sari (rhymes with Mary) Mills and I am excited to teach Kindergarten this year. This is my 9th year at Burns Park Elementary and my 12th year in the classroom.  I am a graduate of the University of Michigan with a B.A. in psychology and two Master's Degrees in Social Work and Public Health. I earned my teaching certificate at Eastern Michigan University. I live in Ann Arbor with my husband, our cats, Phoebe and Iris, and guinea pig Tom. My two daughters also went to Burns Park Elementary and are now in college! I enjoy reading, knitting, running, and playing games.

I am thrilled to be teaching Kindergarten at Burns Park Elementary.  I have been working with readers and writers (for a long time) as a classroom teacher, reading teacher, and literacy staff development consultant. I have a Masters in Curriculum and Teaching from Teachers College, Columbia University, and completed my undergraduate studies at Indiana University. I live in Ann Arbor with my husband, two children, and three Labrador Retrievers.  I enjoy reading, watching my children’s sports teams, board games, singing, therapy dogs, and tap dancing.

I am so excited to be teaching another year of Kindergarten at Burns Park. I graduated from Central Michigan University with a double major in Elementary Education (Early Childhood Development and Learning) and Spanish. I am from South Lyon, Michigan, where I still live with my parents, brother, two dogs, two cats, and fifteen chickens! Working with children has always been my passion, and I am so thankful to teach in such a wonderful community.

I love all things outdoors, especially camping and hiking; I am an ice cream and chocolate croissant connoisseur; I am a theater kid at heart, and I love that I get to perform a one-woman show every day.
