Fifth Grade

I grew up in Dexter and graduated from Eastern Michigan University.  Years later, I was fortunate enough to go back to school and get my Master's Degree in Elementary Education. My teaching experience began at Burns Park in September 2001, and I have taught 4th and 5th grade since coming here. My oldest daughter, Chloe, is a Junior at Western Michigan and my other daughter, Madison, is a Senior at Pioneer High School. My wife, Kathy, is the Office Professional at Burns Park. I enjoy doing yard work and playing ice hockey. Of course, I can't start the day without having a good cup of coffee

I'm looking forward to teaching fifth grade for another year here at Burns Park. I have taught fourth and fifth grade in Ann Arbor for more than 30 years! I earned my Bachelor degree from the University of Michigan in both language arts and social sciences. I earned my Master's degree in reading from Eastern Michigan University. Working with students, particularly in reading and writing, is something that I enjoy. 

When I am not teaching I am home with my family. Much of my time is spent reading, working in my yard/garden, spending time outdoors, and traveling. Taking time to relax and connect with my family and friends is very important to me.
